Sillypolitik

Sillypolitik is a card-based strategy game built in Unreal Engine! Created by Lint Trap Games, a team of students from Purdue University, the game follows disgruntled laundromat owner Rufus Kreig on his mission to dismantle the HOA. Recently submitted to Purdue’s Fractal event, we were honored to win the Fan Favorite Award!

So, What Did I Do?

I served as the team's producer and lead 2D artist! This was my first real producer role, and I’ve absolutely loved it. While there were some growing pains, especially learning Jira and Confluence for the first time, I embraced the challenges. Every sprint, I ensured that each team member knew their tasks, felt neither overworked nor underutilized, and had the support they needed for their specific discipline. I organized team meetings, maintained production workflows, and provided assistance whenever challenges arose.

Along the way, I had the chance to flex my creative muscles, working on character designs, animatics, concept art, and shaping the game's art direction. I also created all the card art, producing about 4–7 pieces in two weeks, for each of the 6 levels. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I couldn’t ask for a better team! Assets and Art

Some art, assets and character designs I have created for the game!

Producing

When producing, my primary responsibilities included organizing bi-weekly Jira sprints, checking in with the team, and assisting our team lead with any additional needs. Balancing the roles of main 2D artist and producer was a challenge, but by dedicating most of my art creation time outside of class, I was able to be present for my team. Where I provided feedback on their work or simply listened as they worked through their own challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Getting to know the team, understanding their work styles, and identifying needs I can help meet.

  • Ensuring all work is completed by weekend deadlines.

    • If tasks are not completed, understanding the reasons and adjusting the next sprint accordingly.

  • Making sure no one is feeling overworked or underworked.

  • Managing assets in our shared Google Drive.

  • Adding team rules and regulations to our game design document.

  • Creating a style guide.

  • Helping run our social media (and creating content).

Team Lead, Design

Lev Working

Lev Working never stops working, his creative vision is one of the strongest I've seen, but he knows how to take take feedback for the betterment of a project. Sillypolitik would not be what it is today without him!

3D Artist

Camden Gain

Watching Cam work this semester has been such a pleasure, from never opening blender to an expert in six months. He has a crazy work ethic, always looking for ways to make his models better.

Music

Owen Fischer

IMG_1709(1).PNG

Owen was a late addition to the team, but melded right in. Creating amazing soundtracks with direction from Sam, he has been a fantastic addition to the team.

Programming, Integration

Mack Moore

IMG_1705.PNG

Mack is one of the hardest workers I know. He developed an AI capable of thinking ahead and making smart moves in four months.  Tell this man to bug fix and he will find 90% of bugs within a few hours and fix them!

Audio, Design, UX

Sameul Clouse

Sam has been a critical part of the team from working on design documents, to making and implementing audio and spearheading play testing in the later months. He's made sure Sillypolitik is fun and playable.

Programming

Steven Ho

Coming on to the project Steven did not have a lot of experience with scripting, but he did not let that stop him. Not afraid to ask for help, he always makes sure the bones of Sillypolitik work the best they can. 10/10 programmer!

UI

George Abrams

Sometimes I think George is a mind reader. I tell him a vague description of what a menu should look like and he makes exactly what is wanted above and beyond. Never complaining when the menus are changed for the 10th time.
